Town and parish councils are a vital part of local government. Cambridgeshire ACRE is funded through the Support Cambridgeshire partnership to provide services to town and parish councils across the County. Cambridgeshire ACRE will work with Cambridgeshire County Council, the District Councils, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Association of Local Councils (CAPALC) and the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) to support the County’s town and parish councils. Jointly, these organisations are working to deliver the Cambridgeshire Local Council Development Plan 2017 – 2022 (click here to download) which seeks to help town and parish councils improve the lives of people in Cambridgeshire.
ACRE have now published a leaflet that outlines the different services each organisation provides in order that clerks and councillors can easily understand who is best placed to deal with their particular query. Cambridgeshire ACRE will be actively promoting the Local Council Award Scheme enabling local councils to maximise their potential. We will work closely with CAPALC to support the rollout of the scheme across the county.
Neighbourhood and community led planning enables communities to get involved with their future development and Cambridgeshire ACRE can offer bespoke advice through diagnostic parish visits. We can advise on the best plan for your community and offer support during the development process. Support Cambridgeshire will help communities explore partnerships that empower local people to take greater control over service decisions and resources.
