Local town and parish councils
We help town and parish councils work successfully with statutory partners, charities and their local communities.
Town and parish councils are a vital part of local government. Cambridgeshire ACRE is funded through the Support Cambridgeshire partnership to provide services to town and parish councils across the County. Cambridgeshire ACRE is working closely with Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Association of Local Councils (CAPALC) to support the County’s town and parish councils. Jointly, these organisations are working to deliver the Cambridgeshire Local Council Development Plan 2017 – 2022 (click here to download) which seeks to help town and parish councils improve the lives of people in Cambridgeshire.
There are lots of organisation and agencies that can support the work of local councils. Cambridgeshire ACRE maintains a leaflet that outlines the different services each organisation provides in order that clerks and councillors can easily understand who is best placed to deal with their particular query.
Neighbourhood- and community-led planning enables communities to get involved with their future development and Cambridgeshire ACRE can offer bespoke advice through diagnostic parish visits. We can advise on the best plan for your community and offer support during the development process. Support Cambridgeshire will help communities explore partnerships that empower local people to take greater control over service decisions and resources.
