CCVS and CECF (Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum) are excited to present an in-person workshop developed by Protection Approaches and British East and South East Asian Network  (besea.n) 

Who is it for? 

Anyone interested in tackling identity-based prejudice in their communities.

What is it about? 

What it means to be an active bystander or ally: through group discussion the participants explore what being an active bystander means to them

What will I learn? 

Standing up for victims: working through a series of scenarios, participants consider and learn what they can do when they encounter prejudice, harassment or violence such as a racist attack in a supermarket or an inappropriate comment from a colleague

What you can do if you are the victim: participants consider some options they may have if they are the victim of prejudice or violence, and find out where there are support services and resources

What to expect: 

Participants are guided through a series of discussions to explore how they can play a role in tackling identity-based prejudice and violence in their community, school, or place of work.

This training is open to voluntary groups in the Cambridgeshire area but members of CCVS and Hunts Forum will benefit from priority attendance. To join CCVS check out this link.

This training is an introduction for trustees and others with responsibility for developing strategies, conveying impact and writing business plans.

Charities need strategies to help them identify what they need to do to achieve their long term objectives and engage their supporters, beneficiaries, funders and the public in their journey. Charities also need business plans to map their route to achieving shorter term goals and help us demonstrate that we are accountable, transparent and sustainable. Demonstrating how we can plan for the long and short term is key in preparing for funding applications, charity registration and developing effective collaborations.

Part 1: Key terms & useful planning tools - getting your head around the basics – looks at key terminology and how to develop planning tools including an introduction to developing a Theory of Change that can help you prepare your strategy.

Part 2: Creating a business plan – getting your ideas down on paper – looks at how you develop and design your plan. In addition to the slides we will provide you with a business plan template you can use to get started.

Join 11 voluntary sector organisations that will be showcasing what they do throughout the day. This is a great opportunity to find out what is happening in your area, ask questions from organisations or make useful links/connections. Whether you work in a voluntary or a statutory role there should be something for all.

There will be 15 15-minute presentations followed by a Q&A for each organisation. Organisations are Cambridge United Foundation, Caresco, Pinpoint, Richmond Fellowship, Animals and People, Camcare, Care Network, Lifecraft, Arthur Rank, the Bobby Scheme and Magpass.

This will be on teams and you can come and go as suits you -as these are bite size you may manage a few.
