Whether you are thinking about volunteering but aren’t sure how to go about it or maybe you’ve been helping out your community but you’d like to do more. Come and find out what’s on offer.
We are running two online lunch time fairs you can come to one or both. Each group will give a short presentation and you can ask questions:
Fair 2 – on 1st February between 1pm and 2pm we will feature:
- Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Age UK
- Red Balloon of the Air
- Steel Bones
- Red Hen
- Caring Together
These groups all work to improve our communities health and wellbeing and support the most vulnerable. They offer a mixture of face to face, online and virtual volunteering. Some offer training and require a regular commitment others want as little as a few hours to help out at a fun event. You will be able to ask questions and if you want to know more you can submit our super short expression of interest form (we will send this out after the event) and someone will contact you for a chat.
Organisations attending the fair on Tuesday 1st February
between 1pm and 2pm
Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Age UK are a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. We believe that no one should have NO ONE. We aim to reduce social isolation and loneliness by bringing people together, providing opportunities to meet people and promoting a positive experience in later life. We couldn’t do this do this without the support of our valued volunteers. To find out more about us and how you can get involved, get online and see us on 1st February.
At Red Balloon Of The Air we offer therapeutic education tailored to reach and rebuild those children unable to access school. We are currently looking to recruit a male support volunteer for our young people who attend weekly face to face social reintegration sessions. We also need an admin support volunteer and exam invigilation volunteers for the summer.
Steel Bones helps amputee families thrive, alongside a proactive supportive peer community. The support we provide empowers the amputee and their family helping in moments of stress, crisis and trauma. We are seeking volunteers to support our events, to act as family mentors, help at school workshops, support us with PR, social media and fundraising.
At Caring Together we’re working to make sure carers and the ones they love have the support they need so that they can live the life they choose for as long as they are able. We have a variety of exciting volunteering opportunities available across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk.
Our team of volunteers help us assist and support carers across all activities in our organisation, including: Take a break volunteers, Volunteer befriender for the Listening Ear Service, Supporting our young carers groups, Supporting our day centres for older people, Helping with our events, fundraising and administration.
The Red Hen Project s a small local charity working with primary schools in North Cambridge. We support children and their families to overcome barriers to learning, and provide a range of outreach activities. The demand for Red Hen to provide these has never been greater. We are looking for volunteers who can help with one off ad-hoc activities and/or regular support e.g. at our drop-in groups, donation collecting, fundraising and social media activities -all to help spread the word about what we do.
