Citizens Advice Rural Cambs (CARC) is an independent local charity providing expert information and advice to over 10,000 people per annum.

They seek three trustees who can each be responsible for the strategic oversight for a particular area of work as follows:

Strategy and Planning.
Leading research on the issues that trouble their clients most and conducting campaigns to address those issues.
Developing innovative approaches that will improve the service to their clients, particularly those in more remote areas.
Fundraising and drafting bids for funds.
Internal and External communications and their public profile.

There are 3 main challenges for the organisation:

Widening access to advice through more multi-channel delivery and thereby lowering the unit cost of advice.
Responding pro-actively to the changing expectations and needs for advice with high standards of service.
Continuing to attract funding for their work, particularly non-governmental funding, in an increasingly challenging environment.

What are they looking for?

They seek trustees who will play a key part in all aspects of the company Board, contributing new ideas, communicating new research and working in partnership with others. They should have good general management abilities and the expertise to be able to perform one or more of the duties listed above.

Innovative mind-set.
Proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.

Before you apply:

Trustee’s normal term of office is 3 years but can be re-elected at the AGM at which the term falls due.
