What is the workshop about?

The European General Regulation on Data Protection (GDPR) took effect on 25 May 2018, extending individual rights and placing greater transparency requirements on organisations who process personal data. This workshop, delivered in association with Cambridge CVS, looks at what the GDPR means in practice for voluntary and community groups, and for their staff and volunteers who handle personal data. It will suit those wanting to refresh their knowledge of data protection law, and those who are new to the topic.

In particular, it will consider the practical steps needed for compliance.

Outcomes:

Participants will:

(a) Have an understanding of the GDPR’s key features.

(b) Be aware of their organisation’s and their own duties, and the steps needed to ensure compliance with data protection law.

(c) Be more confident in applying best practice to data protection.
