With physical fundraising events either heavily restricted or cancelled due to Covid-19, digital fundraising is more important than ever, but getting noticed online can be difficult. And while the number of people giving to charity has declined recently due to Covid, nfpSynergy reports that giving via a charity website and text message are at their highest levels.

Giving Tuesday is a growing yet under-exploited resource for charities and community groups in the UK. In 2019, £14.2 million, equivalent to £10,000 a minute, was raised in the UK in 2019. Now in its ninth year, this global online day of giving continues to grow. This year it falls on 1 December. The #GivingTuesday hashtag was the UK’s top trend on Twitter last year from 8am to 5.30pm, with huge numbers of celebrities, politicians, businesses and leading charities tweeting about it.

A good campaign takes time to plan and implement. In this session we will look at:

  • the different ways to use Giving Tuesday to benefit your organisation;
  • the stages for a successful campaign;
  • planning your digital Giving Tuesday fundraising strategy.

This will be an interactive session with open discussions, sharing ideas and support, and explore avenues of co-operation and collaboration.

The day will be followed with two additional one-hour sessions of facilitated group peer support where you can discuss with others from the group how your plans are developing, seek solutions to any problems you have faced, flesh out ideas and receive honest feedback from your peers. As a group, we will seek ways that we can actively support each other’s campaigns and make the biggest noise and get Cambridgeshire charities noticed on #GivingTusday 2020. Kick off your end-of-year fundraising with a strong high profile campaign.
