Training & Events

The Association of Chairs is a charity and membership organisation supporting Chairs and Vice Chairs of charities and social enterprises in England and Wales.

They are currently delivering their Beacon Programme for Chairs and Vice Chairs of smaller charities (with an annual income of less than £1m) across England.

The programme offers low-cost workshops in nine locations in England (including Cambridge and Peterborough), free online resources and webinars specifically developed with the complexities of chairing a smaller organisation in mind.

Their next workshop takes place in Cambridge (postcode CB2)on the 26th November 2019 between 11.15am and 3.30pm.

The session will provide Chairs or Vice Chairs with practical guidance and tools to help them be more effective in their role. Content includes:

  • Knowing the role and its legal responsibilities.
  • Understand the characteristics of an effective Chair or Vice Chair.
  • Learn how to chair board meetings effectively.
  • Lunch will be provided giving more time to meet and share learning and sources of support with fellow Chairs or Vice Chairs of other smaller organisations. This workshop is being run in partnership with SHARE Museums East.

The workshop costs £20.00 per delegate and there is a travel bursary for organisations with an income under £100k if a booking is made within 1 month of the session taking place.
