Funding is a fundamental aspect of the voluntary and community sector. Support Cambridgeshire understands the importance of identifying funding opportunities for your organisation. As part of that, we are offering an annual event that looks at this critical topic.
This four-day event is open to any organisation within Cambridgeshire, including Parish and Town Councils. All events are free to attend and you can get involved in as many as you wish. Each event has been organised through a different partner, so please contact the organiser directly with any enquiries.
Day 1 // Monday 14th March // 9.30 to 15:00
Matt from IDOX will be offering 20-minute surgeries to go through our IDOX Support4Communites funding database, to find suitable funding opportunities to support your projects, ideas and organisations.
Following this, if you need support with the application, contact CCVS or Hunts Forum.
Twenty-minute slots are available throughout the day, with a max of two slots per organisation. We advise two twenty-minute slots if you’re looking for funding for more than one thing.

How to book
- Email kathryn@huntsforum.org.uk with the slot you would like to book, you may need to provide the preferred and second preferred. Please provide your organisation name and legal structure (Charity, CIC, Association etc), along with a brief paragraph on what you’re looking to fund.
- Nearer the date, you will receive an email confirming your booking again with a link. You will be required to arrive promptly at your session.
Colleagues at Community Matters are hosting an online Funding Fair, where national funders are brought together to talk about their funding opportunities across two days. You are welcome to attend as many webinars as you wish but this must be done through Community Matters, details below. Session 1: Groundwork // 9:00 am – 9:50 am
Groundwork has three grant programs Tesco Bags of Help, ESF Community Grants and Comic Relief small grants.
Session 2: Bernard Sunley Foundation // 10:00 am – 10:50 am
A family grant making foundation that supports charities in England and Wales, working to raise the quality of life and provide more significant opportunities for the young, the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged.
Session 3: The Henry Smith Charity// 11:00 am – 11:50 am
The Henry Smith Charity aims to bring about lasting change to people’s lives, helping them benefit from and contribute to society. We achieve this by funding organisations that work with people to reduce social and economic disadvantages. We want to help people for whom other sources of support have failed, been inappropriate or are not available. To achieve this, we aim to make grants that work towards one or more of our fundamental values.

Session 4: The National Lottery Heritage Fund // 12:00- 12:50
We believe that understanding, valuing and sharing our heritage brings people together, inspires pride in communities and boosts investment in local economies. So we distribute National Lottery grants from £3,000 to £5million and over, funding projects that sustain and transform the UK’s heritage Increasing resilience.
Session 5: Good Things Foundation // 13:00- 13:50
The Foundation helps people to improve their lives through digital. We tackle the most pressing social issues of our time, working with partners in thousands of communities across the UK.
Session 6: Lloyds Bank Foundation // 14:00 – 14:50
We have committed to funding at least 700 charities at any one time, for longer, more flexibly and with more money. We will provide a wide range of developmental support, including training, consultancy and mentoring alongside our funding to strengthen charities.
Session 7: Grantscape // 15:00 – 15:50
We administer community funds (CF) on behalf of Local Authorities, large scale renewable energy developers, including wind farms and solar farms, landfill operators (through the Landfill Communities Fund), and other renewable energy plants.

Day 3 // Wednesday 16th March // 9:00 am – 16:00
Session 1 : Key Fund // 9:00 – 9:50
The Key Fund offers flexible loans and grant/loan packages to help the community and social enterprises to start-up, become sustainable, or grow.
Session 2: Easyfundraising // 10:00 – 10:50
Easyfundraising is the UK’s biggest charity shopping site where you can raise money for your good cause when your supporters shop online. easyfundraising turns everyday online shopping into free donations for your cause – your supporter’s shop as usual (but start on your easyfundraising cause page). Then retailers will make a small donation to say “thank you”.

Session 3 : The Cloth Workers Foundation // 11:00 – 11:50
The Clothworkers’ Foundation improves the lives of people and communities – particularly those facing disadvantage, deprivation and/or discrimination – through grantmaking. The Foundation was set up in 1977 to be the primary vehicle of charitable giving for The Clothworkers’ Company. Since then, The Foundation has awarded more than £152 million in capital grants to charities registered in the UK or not-for-profit organisations working across the nine areas of priority defined in its Main and Small Grants programme.
Session 4 : The Foyle Foundation // 12:00 – 12:50
The Foyle Foundation is an independent grantmaking trust that distributes grants to UK charities. The Foundation does not support applications from individuals. The Foundation supports charities in three main areas:
- Main Grants Scheme, supporting charities whose core work covers Arts and Learning
- The Foyle School Library Scheme
- Small Grants Scheme, supporting charities in all fields with a turnover of less than £150,000 per annum.
Session 5 : The People’s Postcode Lottery // 13:00 – 13:50
Six community-focused trusts award funding from £500 up to £20,000 to support smaller charities and local community groups working to benefit people and the planet.
Each trust funds good causes within a particular geographical area of Britain.
Session 6 : The Architectural Heritage Fund // 14:00 – 14:50
We help communities across the UK find enterprising new ways to revitalise the old buildings they love. We provide advice, grants and loans, and our support acts as a catalyst for putting sustainable heritage at the heart of vibrant local economies.
Session 7: The National Lottery Community Fund // 15:00 – 15:50
The National Lottery Community Fund aims to support ideas and projects that matter to people and communities. Using funding and relationships to help create stronger, more connected communities, the National Lottery Community Fund distributes over £600m a year to communities across the UK, raised by players of The National Lottery.

Day 4 // Thursday 17th March // 9.30 to 12:00
Chris from CCVS is offering a ‘Successful Fundraising’ workshop for organisations wanting to know a little more about fundraising. An online workshop for voluntary sector groups to consider some examples of best practices in fundraising and identify ideas they can adapt.
Who is it for?
For small and medium-sized voluntary community groups. It is ideal for trustees and volunteer fundraisers. FREE to all groups.
What is it about?
This session will look at individual giving through a personal donation or by encouraging others to raise funds for your charity and consider organisational giving.
It will look at:
- how you develop your supporter base
- what motivates people to give
- what fundraising activities have others found successful
- how do you steward your supporters
